Setting up the People: Skills extension

This guide shows you how to switch on the People: Skills extension so you can manage a company skills catalog and rate employees and candidates. For what the extension does and why you'd use it, see People: Skills extension: skills catalog and proficiency ratings.

Install and enable

  1. Go to Settings → Marketplace Extensions.
  2. Find the People: Skills card (search for "skills" if it's quicker), and click it to review the details and required permissions.
  3. Click Install to add it to your system.
  4. Click Enable to switch it on. There are no settings to fill in, so it activates immediately.

Settings

There's nothing to configure to get started — once enabled, a skills section and the new CV profile fields appear on employee and candidate profiles. You manage the shared skills catalog in the People area under Settings → People (platform/settings/people).

Using it day to day

First, build out your skills catalog with the skills that matter to your business. Then, on any employee or candidate in the People area, you can:

  • Assign skills from the catalog and set a proficiency level for each, from beginner to expert.
  • Fill in the CV profile fields — current title, current company, and years of experience.
  • For candidates, also record availability (available from) and salary expectation to support recruiting decisions.
  • Rely on skills transferring automatically when you hire a candidate as an employee.

Tip: keep the catalog tight and meaningful rather than listing every possible skill. A focused, well-named list makes proficiency ratings comparable and searching for the right person genuinely useful.
