Asset maintenance, depreciation, and disposal in NexerIQ

Beyond recording an asset, NexerIQ helps you manage its full lifecycle — taking it out of service for repairs, recording depreciation over time, and retiring it when it is no longer in use. These actions live on the asset's detail page.

Putting an asset under maintenance

Open the asset and use the actions menu at the top right:

  1. For an asset that is Active, choose Begin maintenance and confirm. The status changes to Under maintenance.
  2. When work is finished, choose Complete maintenance and confirm to return the asset to Active.

Posting depreciation

Open the Depreciation tab to see the asset's depreciation history, including the period, amount, and resulting book value for each entry.

  1. Click Post depreciation (available while the asset is Active).
  2. Enter the Period key in yyyy-MM format, the depreciation Amount, and the Ledger entry ID.
  3. Click Post depreciation to record it. The new entry appears in the history and the book value updates.

Disposing of an asset

When an asset is sold, scrapped, or otherwise retired:

  1. Open the actions menu and choose Dispose asset.
  2. Set the Disposal date and the Disposal amount received, if any.
  3. Confirm the disposal. The asset's status becomes Disposed.

A disposed asset stays in the register for your records, but it can no longer be put under maintenance or have depreciation posted.
