Need your data out of NexerIQ — for a spreadsheet, a report, an accountant, or a backup? Almost every list in the Web App can be exported to a file with a couple of clicks. Whether it's your customers, products, vendors, invoices, or ledger entries, the same simple menu works the same way everywhere. This guide shows you how.
What you can export to
NexerIQ exports the list you're looking at into any of four formats — pick whichever suits what you're doing next:
- Export to CSV — a plain spreadsheet file that opens in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers. Great for quick edits and sharing.
- Export to Excel — a ready-to-use Excel workbook (.xlsx), with the list's columns laid out for you.
- Export to JSON — a structured data file, handy for moving data into another system or handing to a developer.
- Export to TOON — NexerIQ's own compact data format.
Tip: if you just want to open your data in a spreadsheet, choose Export to Excel or Export to CSV. Choose JSON or TOON when another program will read the file.
Who can export
For lists that hold sensitive business data — customers, invoices, finance and the like — exporting can be controlled by its own permission, so that viewing a list doesn't always include downloading all of it. If you don't see the Export button on one of these lists, your role doesn't include permission to export it; ask whoever manages roles for your company to grant it. Most everyday lists remain exportable to anyone who can open them.
Export a list, step by step
- Open the list you want to export (for example Customers, Products, or Vendors).
- If you only want part of the data, filter or sort the list first — the export matches what the list currently shows (see the next section).
- Open the options menu on the right of the toolbar and click Export.
- Choose your format: Export to CSV, Export to Excel, Export to JSON, or Export to TOON.
- The file downloads straight to your computer — there's no extra dialog or wait. Open it from your browser's downloads.
The downloaded file is named after the list with the date and time added, for example customers_20260623_1430.csv, so repeated exports never overwrite each other.
What gets included
The export reflects what the list is showing at that moment:
- Filters and sorting are respected. If you've filtered to one customer group or sorted by date, the file comes out the same way. Want everything? Clear your filters first.
- The list's columns are included as you see them.
- If the list is split across pages, the export covers the rows currently loaded. To be sure you get the whole list, remove any filters and let the full list load before exporting.
Dates, numbers, and currency follow the same formatting you see on screen, and files are saved as UTF-8 so accented characters (á, é, ð, þ, ö, ü…) stay correct when you reopen them.
Handy ways to use it
- Share a quick snapshot — export to Excel and email it to a colleague.
- Edit in bulk, then bring it back — export to CSV, make your changes in a spreadsheet, and re-import the file. See Importing data into NexerIQ for how to import.
- Keep an offline copy — export key lists periodically for your own records.
Note: exporting downloads a copy of the data as it is right now; it doesn't change anything in NexerIQ, and later changes won't appear in a file you've already downloaded. Export again whenever you need a fresh copy.
