Before you start
When your company is brand new in NexerIQ, it's a blank canvas. A friendly setup wizard walks you through the handful of essentials it needs to get going, and it appears automatically the first time an administrator signs in — so you won't miss it. There's no pressure to get everything perfect either: you can change any of these settings later under Settings & Administration.
The setup steps
The wizard takes you through these one at a time:
- Company identity — your legal and trading names, logo, addresses, registration numbers, and contact details.
- Financial settings — your base currency, the month your financial year starts, and your country. One thing to get right: the base currency can't be changed once you've recorded your first transaction, so pick carefully here.
- Chart of accounts — start from a ready-made template for your country (the easy option), or import your own. You can fine-tune it later.
- Tax configuration — your default tax code and rate, and how often you file.
- Inventory — create your first warehouse and choose how stock is valued.
- Document numbering — set the prefixes and starting numbers for quotes, orders, and invoices.
- Invite your team — add at least one colleague so you're not going it alone (recommended, not required).
- Work hours — set the default working-hours pattern used for scheduling and payroll.
- Payment provider (optional) — connect a provider if you'd like to accept card payments from customers.
Once you reach the end, your company is ready for business.
Moving from another system?
If you're switching to NexerIQ from somewhere else, you'll want to enter your opening balances before your first accounting period — things like what customers owe you, what you owe suppliers, your bank balances, and the value of your stock. There's a guided import from a spreadsheet to make this painless, and NexerIQ simply checks that the totals balance before posting them.
What next?
With setup behind you, the good part begins: add your customers and products, then create your very first quote or invoice.
