Adding and managing employees
An employee record is where NexerIQ keeps everything it needs to schedule a person's work and pay them correctly. You set someone up once, and their details flow through to scheduling, time tracking, payroll, and reporting. Don't worry if you're new to HR software — the form walks you through the essentials and you can fill in the rest later.
Adding an employee
- Go to People → Employees and click New employee.
- Under Identity, enter the First name (required) and Last name. You can add an Employee code, Tax ID, and Date of birth — in Iceland, typing a kennitala fills in the date of birth automatically.
- Optionally assign one or more Groups to organise people by team or function.
- Under Pay and tax, set the Pay type, Pay rate, Currency, Pay frequency, and Start date. These can be refined later — see the payroll articles for the full picture.
- Add a Phone number and Email address under Contact methods if you have them.
- Click Save. NexerIQ opens the new employee's record so you can continue.
The employee record
Each employee opens to a set of tabs. The most useful day to day:
- Overview — edit identity details, assign Managers and Groups, set a Work hours override, a Location, and optional billing service products. Categories and custom attributes also live here.
- Pay and tax — pay, tax, and deduction details (covered in the payroll articles).
- Contact methods — phone numbers and email addresses.
- Teams — add the person to teams, set a role, and mark a Primary team.
- Notes and Attachments — internal notes and files such as contracts.
Finding people quickly
The Employees list shows each person's code, name, groups, pay type, start date, and a Status badge of Active or Terminated. Use the filter row at the top of any column to narrow the list, and the paperclip button to open someone's attachments without leaving the page.
Terminating or reactivating
- Open the employee and use Terminate employee to mark them as no longer active.
- If they return, open the record again and choose Reactivate employee.
Tip — set up your Groups and Teams early. They make filtering, scheduling, and reporting far easier as your team grows.
