A little setup up front makes every payroll run smooth. You do most of it once and only revisit it when something changes. Everything lives under Settings → Payroll settings, split across four tabs.
Payroll config
The Payroll config tab holds your core settings: the Jurisdiction code, the Pay run frequency, and your Employer bank account for payments. This tab also maps the general-ledger accounts payroll posts to — gross expense, tax payable, net payable, and the pension and social-tax accounts — so approved runs land in your books automatically. Select Edit configuration to set these up the first time.
Pay codes
Pay codes are the building blocks of a pay slip — earnings, deductions, and employer costs. On the Pay codes tab you'll see each code's Kind, whether it's Taxable or Pensionable, and its status. NexerIQ ships built-in codes marked Built-in; you can add your own with New pay code, and edit any code you created.
Pension plans
On the Pension plans tab, set up the plans your company offers. Each plan has a Plan code, Plan name, Pension type, Provider code, and an Effective from date, and one plan can be marked as the Default. Use New pension plan to add one. You enrol individual employees from their own record — see the employee pay and tax article.
Work hours
The Work hours tab defines work-hours profiles — for example a standard full-time week. Each profile has a Code, Name, and Weekly hours, and one can be the Default applied to new employees. Use New work hours profile to add one, or Set default to change which profile is standard.
