Setting up the Asset Condition extension

Setting up the Asset Condition extension

This guide shows you how to switch on the Asset Condition extension so you can rate and track the condition of your assets. For what the extension does and why you'd use it, see Asset Condition extension: what it does.

Install and enable

  1. Go to Settings → Marketplace Extensions.
  2. Find the Asset Condition card (search for "asset condition" if it's quicker), and click it to review the details and required permissions.
  3. Click Install to add it to your system.
  4. Click Enable to switch it on. Asset Condition has no settings to fill in, so it activates immediately.

Settings

There's nothing to configure. Once enabled, the new fields simply appear on your assets, ready to use.

Using it day to day

Open any asset and you'll find a new Condition section with three fields:

  • Condition — choose Excellent, Good, Fair, or Poor from the list.
  • Last Inspection Date — set the date you assessed the asset.
  • Condition Notes — jot down anything worth remembering from the inspection.

After each inspection, update the rating, set the date, and add a note. Save the asset and the record is kept.

Turning it off

To stop using it, open the card and click Disable — your data is kept and you can re-enable any time. To remove it entirely, click Uninstall and confirm; this purges the condition fields and their values from your assets.

Tip: always set the Last Inspection Date when you change a rating. A great rating from two years ago tells a very different story from one recorded last week — the date is what makes the rating trustworthy.
