Setting up the Asset Warranty extension

Setting up the Asset Warranty extension

This guide shows you how to switch on the Asset Warranty extension so you can track warranty coverage for your assets. For what the extension does and why you'd use it, see Asset Warranty extension: what it does.

Install and enable

  1. Go to Settings → Marketplace Extensions.
  2. Find the Asset Warranty card (search for "asset warranty" if it's quicker), and click it to review the details and required permissions.
  3. Click Install to add it to your system.
  4. Click Enable to switch it on. Asset Warranty has no settings to fill in, so it activates immediately.

Settings

There's nothing to configure. Once enabled, the new fields simply appear on your assets, ready to use.

Using it day to day

Open any asset and you'll find a new Warranty section with four fields:

  • Warranty Start Date — set when coverage began.
  • Warranty End Date — set when coverage expires.
  • Warranty Provider — name the insurer or manufacturer.
  • Warranty Reference — enter the contract or claim reference number.

Fill these in when an asset is purchased or registered, and save it. When a warranty is renewed or replaced, just update the dates and reference.

Turning it off

To stop using it, open the card and click Disable — your data is kept and you can re-enable any time. To remove it entirely, click Uninstall and confirm; this purges the warranty fields and their values from your assets.

Tip: record the Warranty Reference as soon as you set up an asset — it's the detail that's hardest to track down later, and it's exactly what a provider asks for first when you make a claim.
