The Asset Serial Numbers extension brings proper serial tracking to your asset inventory. Each asset gets its own unique serial number — plus a place to record the manufacturer's serial number — so every item is individually identifiable and easy to match against invoices, warranties, and support requests.
What it adds
- Serial Number — a unique identifier for the asset. This is required and validated, so you can't accidentally save a blank or malformed value.
- Vendor Serial Number — the manufacturer's or supplier's own serial number, kept alongside your internal one.
If your organisation uses a specific format for serial numbers, you can set validation patterns so anything that doesn't match is rejected before it's saved — keeping your records clean and consistent.
Who it's for
IT teams, asset managers, and anyone who needs to tell otherwise-identical items apart — fleets of laptops, tools, instruments, or machinery. Unique serials make audits, insurance claims, warranty lookups, and support tickets far simpler.
Good to know
The serial number field is required once the extension is enabled, which keeps your inventory complete. The optional validation patterns are set up during configuration — see the setup guide for how to use them.
