Media Processing extension: automatically optimise uploaded images

The Media Processing extension keeps your uploaded images lean and tidy. Instead of storing the raw, multi-megabyte photos that come straight off phones and cameras, it optimises each image the moment it's uploaded — resizing, converting to a smaller format, and cleaning up hidden metadata. The result is faster pages, lower storage use, and better privacy, all without anyone having to think about it.

What it adds

  • Resize — large images are scaled down to a maximum width and height while keeping their proportions, so they're never bigger than they need to be.
  • Format conversion — images are stored as WebP by default (or JPEG/PNG if you prefer) for the smallest sensible file size.
  • Thumbnails — small and medium preview versions are generated for use in listings and avatars.
  • Privacy clean-up — EXIF, GPS location, and camera details are stripped out before storage.
  • Auto-orientation — photos taken on a phone are rotated upright automatically, so they don't appear sideways.

It applies to image attachments wherever they're uploaded in NexerIQ — products, customers, employees, assets, and more. If an image is already small, or it's an animated image that shouldn't be touched, the extension quietly leaves the original as-is.

Who it's for

Any business that uploads a lot of photos — product catalogues, customer or employee profiles, asset records — and wants them to load quickly and take up less space. It's a great fit if your team uploads pictures straight from phones, since it handles resizing, rotation, and privacy automatically.
