Setting up SMS

Setting up SMS

When SMS helps

Some messages are better as a text — an appointment reminder, a “your order is ready” nudge, or a one-time security code. NexerIQ can send SMS through a messaging provider once you've set it up, so the right features can reach customers on their phones.

Setting up SMS

  1. Open Settings → SMS.
  2. Choose your SMS provider and enter the account details it gives you.
  3. Set the sender name or number your texts should come from.
  4. Send a test message to confirm it works.

Where SMS is used

With SMS connected, features that support it — like queue or appointment notifications and security codes — can text your customers automatically. You stay in control of which ones are switched on.

Keeping an eye on messages

NexerIQ keeps a history of the texts it sends, so you can check what went out and when. That's useful for confirming a customer was notified, and for keeping a general eye on usage.

A couple of tips

  • SMS usually costs per message through your provider, so use it for messages that genuinely benefit from being a text.
  • Keep texts short and clear, and make sure customers have agreed to receive them where your local rules require it.
