Stock Counts: count inventory and post variances
A Stock Count helps you compare what NexerIQ expects to be in a warehouse with what your team physically counts. You create a count session, enter counted quantities, review the variance, and post the count when you are ready to update stock.
Create a stock count
- Open Inventory → Stock Counts.
- In Create stock count, choose the Warehouse.
- Select a Warehouse location if the count is for a specific bin, shelf, or area.
- Set the Count date and add any Notes.
- Leave Seed current stock on when you want NexerIQ to pre-fill the count with current expected stock lines.
- Click Create stock count.
Enter counted quantities
- Select the count from the Stock Counts list and click Open.
- If the count is still in draft, use Add line for any product that was not seeded automatically.
- For each line, choose the Product and Product variant if needed.
- Enter the Counted quantity.
- Check the Expected quantity and Variance columns to see the difference.
- Click Save lines.
Post or cancel the count
- Review the count detail carefully. Posting a count changes stock quantities.
- Click Post stock count when the counted quantities are final.
- Use Cancel stock count if the count should not affect inventory.
When you post a count, NexerIQ records stock-count movements for the variances and sets the counted products to the quantities you entered for that warehouse or location.
When stock counting works best
- Use a separate stock count for each warehouse or location you are checking.
- Keep the count in draft while people are still counting or reviewing numbers.
- Post only after the physical count is complete and any unexpected variance has been reviewed.
Tip — if you are doing a full warehouse count, keep Seed current stock on. For a small spot check, you can add just the products you counted.
