Transferring stock between warehouses and locations

Transferring stock between warehouses and locations

When stock needs to move from one warehouse to another — or from one bin location to another inside the same warehouse — you record a transfer. NexerIQ takes the quantity out of the source and adds it to the destination in one step, so the total you own is unchanged: it has simply moved, and both sides are recorded. This article shows you how.

Start a transfer

  1. Open the product and go to its Inventory tab.
  2. Click Transfer stock at the top of Stock locations, or open the row menu on a specific stock row and choose Transfer stock.

Fill in the transfer

  1. If the product has variants, pick the Product variant first.
  2. Under Source stock location, choose the Warehouse (and Warehouse location, if you use bin locations) to move stock from. NexerIQ shows the Available quantity there.
  3. Enter the Quantity to move — it can't be more than what's available.
  4. Under Destination stock location, choose the warehouse (and location) to move stock into.
  5. Set the Movement date and add an optional Reference.
  6. Click Transfer stock.

Good to know

  • The source and destination must be different — you can't transfer a row onto itself.
  • Only stock with availability above zero can be the source of a transfer.
  • If Locations strict is on, you must choose a location on both sides; otherwise you can leave the location blank.
  • The transfer is recorded on both rows, so your On hand figures update immediately and the trail stays clear.

Tip — before you deactivate a warehouse, transfer any remaining stock out of it first, so nothing is stranded in a location you've stopped using.
