Setting up the Product Publishing extension

This guide shows you how to switch on the Product Publishing extension so you can record ISBNs, editions, and formats on your products. For what the extension does and why you'd use it, see Product Publishing extension: what it does.

Install and enable

  1. Go to Settings → Marketplace Extensions.
  2. Find the Product Publishing card (search for "publishing" if it's quicker), and click it to review the details and required permissions.
  3. Click Install to add it to your system.
  4. Click Enable to switch it on. Product Publishing has no settings to fill in, so it activates immediately.

There's nothing to configure — once enabled, the publishing fields appear automatically on every product.

Using it day to day

Open any product and look for the Publishing group. Fill in the details for each title:

  • Pick the ID Type (ISBN-10 or ISBN-13) and enter the ISBN.
  • Record the Publisher Name (and Publisher ID if you track one), the Publication Date, and the Edition.
  • Set the Language, Genre, and Format (Hardcover, Paperback, or eBook).

Fill in only the fields that apply to each title — partial detail is fine.

Turning it off

To stop using the fields, open the card and click Disable — your saved values are kept and you can re-enable any time. To remove it entirely, click Uninstall and confirm; this purges the publishing values stored on your products.

Tip: use the ID Type pick-list consistently — choosing ISBN-13 where you mean ISBN-13 keeps your catalogue clean for search and for any future storefront listing.
