Setting up the Product Sale Notes extension

Setting up the Product Sale Notes extension

This guide shows you how to switch on the Product Sale Notes extension so important product notes surface automatically when a product is added to an invoice. For what the extension does and why you'd use it, see Product Sale Notes extension: what it does.

Install and enable

  1. Go to Settings → Marketplace Extensions.
  2. Find the Product Sale Notes card (search for "sale notes" if it's quicker), and click it to review the details and required permissions.
  3. Click Install to add it to your system.
  4. Click Enable to switch it on. There are no settings to fill in, so it activates immediately.

Settings

There's nothing to configure — once enabled, the Notify On Sale flag appears automatically on product notes.

Using it day to day

You decide which notes are worth interrupting a sale for:

  1. Open a product and go to its notes.
  2. On any note that staff must see at sale time, turn on Notify On Sale — for example a handling warning, an expiry date, or a compliance reminder.
  3. From then on, when that product is added to an invoice line, a drawer opens showing the flagged notes. Staff review them and continue saving the line.

Keep flags for the notes that genuinely matter at the point of sale, so the prompt stays meaningful and isn't dismissed out of habit.

Turning it off

To stop the prompts, open the card and click Disable — your notes and flags are kept and you can re-enable any time. To remove it entirely, click Uninstall and confirm; this purges the stored sale-note flags.

Tip: the prompt only appears for invoices created on screen, not for lines created through the API — so rely on it for staff-entered sales, and keep critical detail in the product record itself as your source of truth.
